102 degrees Fahrenheit. In April.

Yes, that's what the temperature was yesterday in LBB. Let's hope it is not a portent of things to come. In the meantime, it makes this dish of water in the front garden awfully popular among the residents.

  1. Whoa, whoa, WHOA! That's just wrong. Stay cool, Susan.

  2. I'm so sorry. It's been in the 90s here a couple of times this past week. I'm despondent.

  3. It's just scary, isn't it? And here in south-central Colorado, we are going into summer with our snowpack, our summer water supply, at 38 percent of normal. Yikes. Thanks for making that curve-billed thrasher so happy with the fresh water in the bird bath.

  4. The long range forecast is for normal weather. In July and August .

  5. Ouch!
My dad and his wife in Austin are already planning their summer escape. Yikes. I'm afraid Asheville won't be cool enough (temperature-wise) for them to come dog-sit in August...

I hope David is right and we'll have 'normal' weather in mid-summer.

  6. Susan! It was so lovely to meet, briefly bike, and chat with you during my sojourn in Lubbock! Which coincided with the record temperature high you describe here, of all times the for an unacclimatized Canadian to visit Texas! I'm excited to explore your musings on all things bikes, gardening, and more via your blog, and I hope our trails will cross again! Good luck building your bike frame in the meanwhile.
